Fiona Clegg was co-opted onto the council on 5th June, 2019.
Fiona has lived in Burnham on Crouch since she married in 1997.
She is a fully qualified banker and was awarded a Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland for services to banking. She worked in the banking industry for 25 years holding management positions in Scotland and in England. She left Scotland as manager of a flagship branch in Edinburgh to work in the City in Fraud and Money Laundering prevention
Fiona gave up commuting to spend more time in Burnham. She enjoys renovating historic buildings and has won a Maldon District Council Conservation award. She currently runs a property letting business offering properties for holiday and longer term letting.
She has raised many thousands of pounds for charity. Her principal charity fundraising has gone to:-
- Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome. She holds the role of Patron
- The Prince’s Trust – Fundraising Chairman for Essex
- Essex Community Foundation – Fundraiser
- High Sheriff’s Fund – event organizer
- Carl Robinson Memorial Cancer Trust (early bowel cancer detection) – Trustee
Her interest in serving the community revolves around Tourism and Conservation. She has worked with Maldon District Council in their Sense of Place workshops and was a founding Trustee of an initiative called Think Local.
She lives with her husband Philip and their retired racing greyhound Easy Going Jo. She bought her horse Connor shortly after she married and he lives at Elmwood Equestrian Centre.
