Jane English returned to the town council in May 2023

COUNCILLOR JANE ENGLISH

Formerly from the Cotswolds, Jane has lived and worked in Burnham since 1983. She is a retired teacher and tutor of French and English. She taught at St Peter’s High School and Ormiston Rivers Academy, and at St Mary’s C of E School in the town.

She has a MA in Applied Linguistics, has lectured in French for business, worked as a police interpreter, and has featured on Nick Ferrari’s LBC show speaking on Fertility issues.

She was a founder and director of Saint FM (the local community radio station that is now Caroline Community Radio) presenting a show for 15 years; and she worked as a committee member and organiser on Riverfest, Burnham’s free music festival.

In addition, Jane is a singer and performer, appearing on national radio and around the UK.

She continues to work as a volunteer with various groups in the town, and is a trustee of the Dementia Café.

Jane was co-opted onto the town council in 2020. She was elected to the council as an independent candidate in May 2023.
