The Railway Bridge Task Force is a group of volunteers dedicated to planting the verdant slopes above the station car park.

They were formed in 2004 to improve the look of this important entrance to the town.

Since then the group has planted and maintained over 700 trees and shrubs, plus perennial border plants. They also weed, prune, tidy up and litter-pick all around the bridge and station.

Need for new volunteers

The group is facing closure unless new volunteers come forward.

They particularly need organisers – ie, chair, secretary and treasurer –   people with those skills.

Please use the contacts below if you are willing to help.

Council representation

They are represented on the Town Council by Councillor Mike Wood.

You can copy any emails you send to the Town Clerk and to the Environment Coordinator, Vanessa Bell.
