Festive Fayre, 2018

2018 was the second year the Carnival Committee have run the annual Festive Fayre, with preparations beginning in earnest as soon as the Carnival was done and dusted.
We were very lucky that the East of England Co Op and David Wilson Homes gave generous sponsorship as even a smaller scale event has costs.
Any profits go to local charities and good causes.
Highlights of the event were choirs – Hearts in Harmony and the Ormiston Rivers Academy Choir, plus Rayleigh Brass and the Maldon Bellringers.
There was also an Ice Queen to terrify the children, otherwise known as Town Mayor Wendy Stamp, (see picture above) who met the Santa Train in full costume.
The Carnival Committee distributed cheques to local charities, then Santa made his entrance around 4.30.
We were very lucky with the weather, a few spots of rain fell but the forecast high winds didn’t appear.
The crowds did, and the High Street was full of happy faces all afternoon. It was a great success.
