King & Hines

King & Hines is a classic old-school hardware store and the oldest shop in Burnham.

Sadly it closed for business in August 2019, but may be reopening under new ownership.

Founded in 1893, the shop is owned and run by Georgina Tatlow, whose grandfather founded the shop, and her son Richard ‘Tank’ Tatlow.

It sold a wide range of materials, including gardening tools, plumbing, electrics, bottled gas, paints, and a range of screws, nails, nuts and bolts, some of them imperial and in old-style boxes.

It also offered key-cutting.

You’ll find it at 173 Station Rd – just where the High Street begins.
