The Mangapps Railway Museum is on the Southminster Road, on the northern border of the town.

It features a ¾ mile standard gauge passenger carrying line, with restored stations, signal boxes and ancillary equipment removed from various sites throughout East Anglia and beyond, with 18 steam and diesel locomotives and over 80 carriages and wagons, plus some model railways layouts.

Current exhibits include the Burnham Dunkirk Little ShipVanguard (currently awaiting restoration) and the tube train famously used in the Oscar-winning film, The Darkest Hour.
